Well, initial results are in for Tiffany and they are wonderful!!
Last week Tiff saw her Endocrinologist (diabetes doctor). To say that this doctor was shocked and surprised by what she found is an understatement. As you will recall, Tiff’s Hemoglobin A1C was 14 when she was in the hospital in March. A normal reading is below 5.7. It was her years of uncontrolled diabetes that was being blamed for her need of a heart transplant. Last week her Hemoglobin A1c was 7.2! Her doctor had never seen someone lower their reading that much in that short of a period of time before. Needless to say, Tiff was very outspoken about what she did to lower the reading and the doctor was impressed. I was a little bit disappointed that they never got around to discussing the neuropathy improvement. There were so many other things that they talked about that Tiff said that she forgot to talk with her about it. Tiff still reports that her neuropathy is about 80% improved. This was a great appointment for her.
This last week Tiff went to see her new cardiologist. He had read through all of the reports from her hospitalization. He did not do any extensive testing yet – she will have a repeat echocardiogram in the Fall. He told her that he saw no reason in her exam to assume that she was still in need of a heart transplant any longer. His assessment of her was very positive. He told Tiff that his daughter has become vegan recently and he seemed to realize the benefits of being vegan. He himself is a vegetarian. It appears that all of our hard work has paid off and I couldn’t be happier. We praise the Lord for giving us bodies that, with the proper fuel, can heal themselves.
Tiff continues to do very well. She is up to walking 2 miles daily. She is sticking with vegan eating. She continues to juice daily. And has lost another 6 pounds already! I’m so proud of her.
Thank you again for all of the prayers and well wishes – the encouragement was a vital part of our success. This will most likely be my final post – but you never know 😊. In the words of Paul Harvey “Now you know the rest of the story – Good day!”
