When we began this program we made the decision to be diligent about certain daily disciplines. This is a good thing. However, it’s also important to pay close attention to your body and signals that it sends. I overlooked some messages that my body was sending me and am now having to amend some of my daily juicing. Our daily juice, for the most part, has consisted of carrots, spinach, kale, cucumber, celery, 1/3 of a lemon, 1/3 of an orange and an apple (we did not use the apple in Tiff’s juice due to her diabetes). Over the last week to ten days we have gone to a juice bar called Nektar several times and I have had delicious smoothies. Anyway, it turns out that I have taken in too much citric acid and am having some GI (gastrointestinal) repercussions from it. Looking back, I can see where I should have been more aware of the problem, but I just kept plugging along with the plan. Now I will go today without any juice at all and yesterday had no lemon or orange in my juice. I don’t like going a day without the juice as I feel better when I have it and I know that I need the nutrients, but a day without is better than the issue I am currently having. The takeaway from this is to pay attention to the signals that your body sends to you and make changes promptly to avoid a problem.
We are beginning the process of getting ready to leave Hannah’s home. We are getting laundry done and packing up things that we won’t need over the next few days. I won’t load up the car until Wednesday evening when Greg is here. We do have another package to get in the mail for Tiff – she’s going to take the water purifier so that she will have a way to have cleaner water. I haven’t talked too much about the need for good, clean water drinking. This was an integral part of the plan as we need lots of water to flush out the toxins and bad stuff that our cells are ridding themselves of. Greg and I distill our drinking water. Tiff will use the water purifier at her home to make sure of her water being cleaner.
Hannah took today off of work (she will work on Friday instead of today) to spend more time with us. She prepared a completely raw meal for us today – it was excellent! She spiralized green zucchini, cut up red pepper to put on top then we each put the amount of basil pesto sauce on our veggies that we wanted. She also cut up cucumber, tomato and onion and fresh basil and tossed it with a balsamic dressing for a side salad. We ate a completely raw, flavorful, and nutritious meal – 100% good for our bodies. We’re repeating it for dinner because it was so good! Hannah, like Tiff, has an eye for putting different foods together to make unique and delicious meals. I tried Dragon fruit today for the first time and it was interesting. You can’t argue with the excellent benefits of eating it, it just isn’t very flavorful. I plan to begin eating it on a regular basis.
Tomorrow will be our final weigh in. None of us feel as though we are losing any great amounts of weight. We all notice that our clothes are fitting us better and we feel stronger. I guess, as long as I’m losing, I will accept losing at a slow and steady pace rather than too quickly. I will post a blog tomorrow and on Wednesday. After that, the blogs will be posted as new news arrives. I’m thinking that I will post a blog this weekend after I talk with Tiff and hear what she has to say about her house changes. She will see her cardiologist on 6/13 and I will most likely post the results of that shortly thereafter. I see the optometrist on 6/17 and will most likely make a post with the results of that visit. We tried to set up this blog to send out notifications of new posts but were unable to figure it out. I’m sorry about that.
